The family is usually the primary support for individuals after an acquired brain injury (“ABI”) and therefore play a pivotal role in that injured
individual’s recovery.  In addition to providing the necessary assistance for the individual’s coping, family members often report role changes, role strain, and emotional adjustments related to the demands of caregiving.

This workshop will highlight the major challenges facing family members after an ABI event. Tips and strategies for coping and living with a family member with ABI will be shared.

The presentation will conclude with a synopsis of the seven habits of highly effective families and ways of rebuilding a “new normal” after ABI.
